The Howard Davis Jr. Foundation will host a gala fundraiser at Tower Club: Fort Lauderdale on Sat., Aug. 15 from 8-11 p.m.
Davis, a 1976 Olympic gold-medal boxer and CEO of Fight Time Promotions, was recently diagnosed with late-stage lung cancer. His foundation will host the fundraiser to help finance Davis’ cancer treatment as well as help others stricken with the disease who have chosen alternative treatment options.
The event will feature dinner, musical entertainment and a meet-and-greet with Davis and other South Florida sports luminaries. Also on tap will be a memorabilia auction, which will offer boxing gloves signed by Davis along with other items donated by Davis’ friends and supporters, including boxing great Sugar Ray Leonard and former UFC champ Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell.
Former Miami Dolphins star Kim Bokamper will be on hand to help auction off an autographed football.
“Our goal is take this global,” Karla Guadamuz-Davis, Davis’ wife and business partner, said. “To have the Howard Davis Jr. Foundation be a source for education and help for those who have found themselves in financial hardship as they fight cancer by alternative means.”
Tickets are $175 per person.
